Reasons:

With me always having wanted to see the Great Map of Scotland this route offered the perfect opportunity to combine this sight with a nice stroll through the lovely area surrounding Eddleston.

Starting off in the small village it is easiest to either arrive by bus or park near the kirkyard a bit outside. Upon starting the walk, you will immediately get an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful little village of Eddleston before reaching the Great Map and later on retracing your steps a bit.

There is a fair bit of road walking involved but with the roads not busy and more like a very big cycling path, so it was okay. The bit in-between leads you on forest paths and farm tracks, giving you the opportunity to enjoy amazing views over the hill range right in front of you.

If done on a nice and sunny day, it is more than just amazing to enjoy this short walk through a rarely visited part of Scotland. But I can imagine even in cloudy weather this walk is easy for walking with a partner, friends or the family. This walk does deserve the 4 out of 5 stars.
