Reasons:
Easily accessible from both Clovenfords and Galashiels, this route is an easy and quick one, heading up Meigle Hill, offering great views (given that its not snowing when you do it 😊) and a lovely round route, exploring the estate.
Starting out of Clovenfords heading along a straight path before following the slopes on the hillside, this is easily walked and great for walkers with every ability. The length being about 10km all in all the hilltop lies approximately in the middle of the route and by that offers great chances of the way down being more of a cooldown, compared to the steep bits on the way up the hill.
Even in winter conditions the hill walk isn’t too bad, but maybe shouldn’t be attempted with young kids if done in snow, since on the way up, if the wind is bad, the snow can feel like icy rain in your face.
Though of the rain in the lower areas and the snow on the higher ones I really enjoyed this walk with its varying surroundings and no streets or roads to walk on. Alongside with being easily accessible it is also easily followed on clear tracks and paths throughout.
A definite 5 stars for this route which would have only been made nicer if I could have seen more from the top, which was my own fault, since I decided to do it even if it was snowing, but it still was lovely and a hill in snow has something special as well.
