Reasons:
This route offers nice views over the Firth of Forth while running between some woods and fields from Dirleton down to the beach. Unfortunately, the castle was closed when I visited, so I didn’t get a chance to even get a glance of it since it wasn’t visible from the route itself due to the vegetation surrounding it.
If you are looking for a way down to the beach, you’ll probably walk on the same route anyway, I also must add that we didn’t go all the way, with the route running exactly the same way to and from the Fidra. However, we walked down to the beach and back up which was the biggest part of the route, who thinks about doing this with their children is right to do so since the route offers a playground and of course the beach itself.
Other than that, I thought the route to be pretty boring to be quite honest. If you want to get some steps in and want to go down to the beach okay but it’s not a route I would recommend getting to know the area better. It really is nice if paying Dirleton Castle a visit and spend some down time afterwards but that’s all I personally would recommend.
